Same old stuff from Israel

We are still hearing this kind of language:

The chances of an Israeli preemptive strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities have become significantly higher in the last few weeks, The Times reported Friday, quoting intelligence sources.

And hear this sort of sufferring:

“People in Gaza are waiting in lines for almost everything, and that’s if they’re lucky enough to find something to wait for,” says Bassam Nasser, 39.

An aid worker in Gaza City, he, like so many others there, including the UN relief agency, says living conditions are the worst he has ever seen in the strip.

“People queue for two or three hours for bread, but sometimes there’s no cooking gas or flour, so no bread.

“People wait in line for UN food handouts, but sometimes there aren’t any. The suffering is reaching every aspect of life.”

We still ignore voices that speak sense like this one:

Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mairead Maguire said Thursday the United Nations should suspend or revoke Israel’s membership.

Maguire said Israel should be punished for ignoring a series of United Nations resolutions over the years.

Maguire won the 1976 peace prize for her work with Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland. She is visiting the Palestinian territories to protest Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip. In October this year she arrived on a boat that sailed into the Gaza Strip carrying international protesters who wanted to bring attention to Israel’s blockade of the Hamas-controlled territory.
Israel virtually sealed off the territories after the Islamic militant Hamas took over there in 2007. The closure tightened two weeks ago in
response to Hamas rocket fire on Israeli border communities.

Maguire told a news conference Thursday that it’s time for the international community to take action against Israel.

Will anything change with the arrival of the annointed one Obama?

This is Will Van Wagenen from the Mormon Worker. I have a read a bunch of posts from your blog and enjoy it alot. We’re working on starting a Mormon Worker blog on wordpress and am just assembling some possible bloggers now. Each blogger would just put their newest posts on both their personal blogging site and on the Mormon Worker site as well. That way we can have a place where someone can go to see posts from a variety of leftist mormon writers all in the same place, kind of like how you can go to bycommonconsent or other lds blogs and see pieces written by a variety of people. any just wondering if you would be interested to post your stuff on the Mormon Worker blog site as well. i’m just getting it up now and figuring out how to use it. Its at

any way check it out and let me know if you’re interested. thanks Will
