US massacres 47 mostly women and kids at a wedding party in Afghanistan: government report

Remember the Taliban or Al Queda insurgents recently killed in Afghanistan?  Remember how the locals claimed that the US was just killing civilians including women and children?  Remember the US military officials response to that?:

“It was not a wedding party, there were no women or children present. We have no reports of civilian casualties,” coalition media officer Captain Christian Patterson told AFP.

Between five and 10 militants were killed, said another spokesman Sergeant First Class Joel Peavy.

It was not clear if they were from the Taliban insurgent movement or the radical Al-Qaeda network also active in the area, he told AFP.

Well, it turns out after an investigation that the US actually bombed an Afghanistan wedding party and sent the bride and 46 others to their graves with no Taliban or Al Queda in sight:

The commission is headed by Senate deputy speaker, Burhanullah Shinwari whose constituency is in Nangarhar province. He told the BBC: ”Our investigation found out that 47 civilians (were killed) by the American bombing and nine others injured.

“There are 39 women and children” among those killed, he said. The eight other people who died were “between the ages of 14 and 18”.

Not only does this incident expose the US military as idiots and murderers, but it should show us that we have no business over there at all.  I was against the Afghanistan war from the beginning.  There was no good reason to go there in the first place and we’ve brought nothing but sufferring and pain ever since.  May God rest the souls of those who were killed and comfort their loved ones that survived.

Of note, this report is found in the BBC news, but I have found nothing about the final results of the Afghanistan government’s investigation into this in the US major press at all.  Go figure.

We have the most over-funded and techinically advanced military in the world but it’s horrifically inept … My heart goes out to the families of these victims. As an American, I want to re-iterate that the people who make these decisions aren’t doing so in my name and those fighting are not improving my life or ensuring my survival in any way. Every day I get a reminder that I am disgusted by my government and its actions.
