Tiny Revolution has a great post about this issue. Crocker pointed out that the renewal of the US military’s stay in Iraq is due soon and that this will be decided between Bush and Al Maliki, which means it will be determined between Bush and Bush. However, the Iraqi Parliament has stated emphatically by majority rule, that any renewal of agreement of military occupation by the US must be passed by the Iraqi Parliament, and that the majority of the Iraqi parliament would then veto this and the US would have to leave. This is why we gave them democracy, so they could decide these kinds of things. I posted about this here:
