Bolton continues his warmongering ways from the sidelines

John Bolton is at it again.  A man of no position anymore in US politics but a man who is still sought after for his opinion especially in areas where his extreme neocon positions are least welcomed by yours truly.  This time he is at his old tricks again, trying to stir up war between Iran and Israel.  He was quoted as saying:

“One can say with some assurance that in the next year the use of force by the United States is highly unlikely… That increases the pressure on Israel in that period of time… if it feels Iran is on the verge of acquiring that capability, it brings the decision point home to use force… The calculus in the region changes dramatically once Iran has nuclear capability, meaning the preemptive use of force or the overthrow of the Iranian regime has to come before they get the weapon… Once it acquires the weapons there is a risk of retaliation with nuclear capability and that’s why Israel is in danger — it is a very small country and two or three nuclear weapons (and) there is no more country. The pressure to act is intensive and the window of time available is narrow.”

The AFP author doesn’t help anything by lying… or at least accepting the dogma that is taught by the US and Israeli government when he states:  “Israel considers Iran its number one enemy following repeated statements by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the Jewish state to be wiped off the map.”

Please.  This sort of talk has long since been debunked.  The wiped off the map thing is taken totally out of context and the Iranian official position towards Israel includes no military or other violence whatsoever.  I’ve posted a bit on this subject a bit as it’s a rather important point to note that Iran actually doesn’t harbor ill intentions toward Israel:

Bolton reminds me of the men that Amalickiah hired to stir up the Lamanites to anger against the Nephites so that they would support war.  We have here in Alma 48:

1 And now it came to pass that, as soon as Amalickiah had obtained the kingdom he began to inspire the hearts of the Lamanites against the people of Nephi; yea, he did appoint men to speak unto the Lamanites from their towers, against the Nephites.

As you LDS folks know, Amalickiah was very successful in provoking a war.  Let’s hope that Bolton is less successful.
