Israel seeks an escalation with Gaza for a greater opportunity to murder Palestinians

This analyst for the Haaretz thinks that the Israeli threat to cut off gasoline and electricity to Gaza is not so much to combat the Qassam rockets and their launchers (the stated purpose) as an effort to escalate the crisis into a good reason to launch a last-summer-Lebanon type messy and murderous attack on Gaza to promote Israel’s eventual goals there.  The writer says:

“As such, the real aim of this effort is twofold: to attempt a new form of “escalation” as a response to aggression from Gaza, before Israel embarks on a major military operation there; and to prepare the ground for a more clear-cut isolation of the Gaza Strip – limiting to an absolute minimum Israel’s obligation toward the Palestinians there.”

Several weeks ago, Barak said Israel “is getting closer” to a major operation in the strip. Like Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, Barak is not excited about this possibility. He knows that it will not be easy, and there are no guarantees for positive results. Many soldiers will be killed and so will many innocent Palestinians, because the IDF will employ a massive artillery bombardment before it sends infantry into the crowded built-up areas. This will be a “dirty war,” very aggressive, that will have scenes of destruction similar to southern Lebanon in 2006. The sole exception: unlike in Lebanon, the population there has nowhere to run.”

Israel is hands down the most aggressive and violent regime on the planet. We would already be in WW III if Iran had killed as many people as the IDF has killed in the last 4 years.

What’s worse is that the US and European and governments have basically implied that only Israel has the right to self-defence because during the same period that the Qassam rockets have been fired, Israel has been ‘entering’ the Gaza strip at will with Tanks (they even ran over a 17-year old boy 2 1/2 weeks ago), machine guns, and helicopters. So if Israel can use force and tools of war and be ‘justified’, then why is it that the Palestinians who respond to this daily aggression using rockets are in the wrong?

Treat Israel the same way that we treat Iran and Syria and I guarantee you that the Middle East would be more peaceful.

    Agreed Kaddie,

The Bible surely referred to modern-day Israel when Isaiah quoted God in saying:

1 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
5 They hatch cockatrice’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.
6 Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.
7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.
    -Isaiah 59
