AIPAC and its sense of humor

This is just precious.  I go to the AIPAC website sometimes for comic relief.  In today’s summary they had the following:

Lawmakers Urge Payment for Former Iranian Hostages

A bipartisan group of House members introduced legislation calling on the Secretary of the Treasury to provide payment to those held by Iranian terrorists after the seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979. The bill, introduced by Reps. Brad Sherman (D-CA), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Joe Wilson (R-SC), seeks justice for these victims of terrorism and accountability for Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. Reps. Joseph Crowley (D-NY), Steve Chabot (R-OH) and Eliot Engel (D-NY) joined their colleagues in introducing the legislation. The bill will be considered by the House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs Committees.

Are these guys serious?  You could almost put this in the Onion in my book.  To see how seriously we take these sorts of requests for reparations for atrocities perpetrated by a foreign nation, please recall the response of the US to the International Court of Justice ruling that the US owed Nicaragua 12 billion dollars for the unlawful use of force in supporting the Contra terrorists.  Needless to say, we still have our 12 billion dollars.

Remember too, that the hostages of Iran were treated very humanely, unlike how the US treats its prisoners in places like Abu Graihb etc.
