Why I think we are definately going to war with Iran

There is just too much.  From the Project for a New American Century…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century

which speaks of our “need” for full spectrum dominance (land, sea, air, space and information… to stand peerless in full dominance over all) to maintain our hegemony over the world and to put down all global and regional challengers with a doctrine of pre-emptive (striking at an imminent threat)/preventive (striking a nation that may someday have the capability to threaten the US) war

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preventive_war

, stating thusly:  “while the unresolved conflict in Iraq provides the immediate justification [for U.S. military presence], the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein” and “Over the long term, Iran may well prove as large a threat to U.S. interests in the Gulf as Iraq has. And even should U.S.-Iranian relations improve, retaining forward-based forces in the region would still be an essential element in U.S. security strategy given the longstanding American interests in the region.”

Then there’s the developements ever since the beginning of the Iraq war with the US accusing Iran of a nuclear weapons program (never been proven in spite of Iranian cooperation with the IAEA and even El Baradei’s most recent assessment of 8/07 saying, the modalities agreed with Iran “cover all remaining issues and the Agency confirmed that there are no other remaining issues and ambiguities regarding Iran’s past nuclear program and activities.” Furthermore, the agency’s delegation is of the view that “the agreement on the above issues shall further promote the efficiency of the implementation of safeguards in Iran and its ability to conclude the exclusive peaceful nature of the Iran’s nuclear activities.” Crucially, the IAEA has also “been able to verify the non-diversion of the declared nuclear materials at the enrichment facilities in Iran and has therefore concluded that it remains in peaceful use.”)

to sending covert agents into Iran proper to stir up problems to supporting terrorists within Iran to wreak havoc and provoke a response as reported by Scott Ritter (“…The most visible of these is the CIA-backed actions recently undertaken by the Mujahadeen el-Khalq, or MEK, an Iranian opposition group, once run by Saddam Hussein’s dreaded intelligence services, but now working exclusively for the CIA’s Directorate of Operations.  It is bitter irony that the CIA is using a group still labelled as a terrorist organisation, a group trained in the art of explosive assassination by the same intelligence units of the former regime of Saddam Hussein, who are slaughtering American soldiers in Iraq today, to carry out remote bombings in Iran of the sort that the Bush administration condemns on a daily basis inside Iraq…”)

to all of the recent accusations of aiding insurgents in Iraq and training them inside of Iraq and in Iran to bomb support to everything that’s been going on lately.

Now, there is a good article here:

http://www.counterpunch.org/bricmont09042007.html

which states that Bush doesn’t risk as much politically, or doesn’t have the impediments to attacking Iran that we on the left have been comforting ourselves with lately.  Read the article yourself to see if you still feel comfortable that Bush won’t attack Iran because of the Shiite rebellion in Iraq that would follow, or because of the havoc Iran could play on the shipping routes for oil in the region etc.

The NeoCons won’t leave Iran up to Hillary or Barak.  They want to take care of it now so that full hegemony can be established.  By the way, for a great look into the Neocon mindset, see this article by David Ray Griffin back in February:

Oh, and read of his chilling report of how we told the Taliban in the summer of 2001 that we would attack them with our military by October.  What might happen (false-flag operation) that will send us to attack Iran?
