The news you don’t hear. 400-1600 people killed in Iraq today. Stop the killing.

Every day now we hear of how many people are dying in Iraq each day.  Today the numbers reported are about 81 people:

Of course, we now know that this large number of Iraqi deaths we get word of through media sources, are probably, at most, about 20% of the true number of deaths that are under the media’s radar.  That means that around 400 people died today in Iraq… unless your numbers are more like those reported in Guatemala during heavy violence times in which only 5% of all deaths were caught by the media.  That would mean about 1600 people died in Iraq today.  400-1600 then, is the most likely range of numbers of people killed today in Iraq.

On top of that, US media sources are making a big deal out of more than 70 US military killed this month so far.  For some sickening reason, it means so much more to us that 70 of our own are killed this month, than it means that 400-1600 Iraqis (or 81 for that matter) died today.

I am sickened by the reports that come in every day of violence… a violence that US taxpayers hands are bloodied with.  It reminds me of the verse in the Book of Mormon, in the 13th chapter of the book of Ether that says:

31 And Shared wounded Coriantumr in his thigh, that he did not go to battle again for the space of two years, in which time all the people upon the face of the land were shedding blood, and there was none to restrain them.

Or chapter 4 of the book of Mormon within the Book of Mormon which says:

11 And it is impossible for the tongue to describe, or for man to write a perfect description of the horrible scene of the blood and carnage which was among the people, both of the Nephites and of the Lamanites; and every heart was hardened, so that they adelighted in the shedding of blood continually.

Is not the time coming when those who are left will lament like the great General Mormon?  When he said:

16 And my soul was rent with aanguish, because of the slain of my people, and I cried:   17 aO ye fair ones, how could ye have departed from the ways of the Lord! O ye fair ones, how could ye have rejected that Jesus, who stood with open arms to receive you!   18 Behold, if ye had not done this, ye would not have fallen. But behold, ye are fallen, and I amourn your loss.   19 O ye afair sons and daughters, ye fathers and mothers, ye husbands and wives, ye fair ones, how is it that ye could have bfallen!   20 But behold, ye are gone, and my sorrows cannot bring your return.

Now, he specifically lamented the people who had a knowledge of Christ and rejected him and persisted in their wicked ways of warmongering.  However, we seem to have in this country, people who claim to know Christ, which same people are those doing the warmongering.  How great must be the weeping of the heavens over the wickedness present on the earth today, fomented by the great secret combinations of the day and swallowed hook line and sinker, especially by those who should know better.  We must stop this killing.  Oh that we would leave Iraq now and stop exacerbating the situation as the British General has recognized, and bring our boys home, and then work with our might to pay reparations to the Iraqi people.
